The table compares 25 mm and 50 mm of space on every side. “Yes” means there is room for that amount of padding; check that it is suitable for your keyboard and courier. All measurements are in mm, without removable music rests or stands unless the manufacturer says otherwise.

Measurements and packing advice

Clearances assume a centred keyboard, level as played: width along the keys, front-to-back depth, then height. Box dimensions use that same order. Negative clearance means the body or package already exceeds the box on that axis. No diagonal or on-edge fits are claimed.

Choose enough padding to protect your keyboard, including the ends and corners. The amount needed depends on your keyboard, packaging and courier. The 50 mm default is a starting point for comparison, not a guarantee of protection.

  • UPS’s general packing guide calls for 50–60 mm between the contents and box walls. Read UPS packing guidance
  • FedEx UK’s fragile-item guide specifies 80 mm of cushioning between the item and carton. Read FedEx UK packing guidance
  • The 25 mm setting is provided to compare close-fitting cartons and measured bespoke packing systems. It is not an alternative to a carrier’s larger allowance.
  • Large-bubble diameter is not the same as finished cushioning thickness. Layers compress and overlap; measure the completed package rather than assuming a fixed number of wraps.
  • Some services require musical instruments to be in a hard case as well as boxed. Check the exact service’s packing and cover terms before booking. A box-size match is not a courier acceptance or damage-cover guarantee.
  • Published sizes and carton dimensions are nominal. Check the real instrument and carton, including protrusions. “Close” flags under 5 mm per side beyond the allowance; this is a planning warning, not a stated manufacturing tolerance.
Sources and scope

Manufacturer specifications checked 2 November 2026. Each model row links to its source. This is a selected model library, not a sales ranking or an exhaustive compatibility list. Model names do not imply manufacturer endorsement.

Some manufacturers exclude projections from published dimensions. Measure your actual instrument, case and finished protection before ordering. No instrument has been physically packing-tested for this guide.

Already in the original packaging? Check its outside dimensions, not the instrument’s body size. Yamaha lists the P-225 factory carton at 1,424 × 362 × 233 mm in L × D × H order; that carton is larger than this range’s slim 1,385 × 310 × 260 mm box. Specs

Compare instrument dimensions before ordering

Manufacturer body sizes, with detachable music rests and stands removed where applicable. Figures are dimensional comparisons, not packing tests. Available space below is per side for a centred bare instrument: ends / front-back / above-below.

Model Body W × D × H Space per side
Casio CT-S1 930 × 258 × 83 mm 85 / 86 / 33.5 mm
Roland GO:KEYS 3 950 × 286 × 87 mm 75 / 72 / 31.5 mm

Prepare your keyboard for transport

Measure the complete cushioned instrument or case against all three internal box dimensions. Follow the instrument manufacturer’s packing guidance, support the body, prevent movement and protect keys, controls and connectors without placing pressure on them. Secure accessories separately and check your carrier’s instrument packaging and cover requirements.

Add 5 metres of large-bubble wrap or choose the 50-metre roll. Wrap, tape and other protection are sold separately; no fixed wrap length is guaranteed to cover every instrument.

Questions about this box

Is this a box for a computer keyboard?

This listing is for packaging electronic musical keyboards. It is not a computer-keyboard accessory or an instrument.

Does every 61-key keyboard fit?

No. Key count does not determine the casing size. For example, deeper arranger keyboards can require a larger box even with the same number of keys.

Are the instrument and packing materials included?

No. This listing is for cardboard boxes only. The main image is an illustrative scene; keyboard, piano, case and cushioning are not included. The second image shows the double-wall cardboard structure.

Need another keyboard box size?

Compare our large keyboard box or slim digital piano box, or use the keyboard and digital piano shipping box size guide. Email info@blackcountryboxes.co.uk with your fully packed measurements for size enquiries or trade quantities.

Model names identify the dimensions compared and do not imply manufacturer endorsement. This range is for selected portable instruments, not upright pianos, grand pianos or assembled console organs.

Check the fit before ordering
